Journey to Morocco :
A Transformative Adventure for Women

Discover the Magic of Morocco

Embark on a journey to Morocco, a land where ancient traditions blend seamlessly with vibrant modern culture. From the bustling souks of Marrakesh to the tranquil beauty of the Sahara Desert, Morocco is a destination that will captivate your senses and awaken your spirit. Imagine exploring the historic medinas of Fez, and glamping under the starry skies of the Sahara. This is more than just a trip; it’s an opportunity to connect with like-minded women, break free from the ordinary, and discover the extraordinary.

I’ve been to Morocco, and trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this trip!

Why Travel With Me?

As immigrants to the US from India, my parents were focused on rebuilding their lives and I was trying to adapt to a new culture/people as a teenager. Traveling and exploring the outdoors was not something I was encouraged to do.

In fact, growing up as an only child in a foreign country, I was often sheltered from going out and exploring. This, coupled with my experiences growing up as an immigrant, led me to develop a set of limiting beliefs.

As an adult, I discovered travel and the outdoors helped me re-write those limiting beliefs and transform myself into the person I am today. It allowed me to break free of my self imposed limitations and do things that I dreamed of, but didn’t think I could achieve.

And that’s why I am passionate about helping others work on their mindset, rewrite those limiting beliefs and find their best version of themselves.

Trips with me will often involve some type of challenge designed to help you overcome your boundaries and step into the unknown. Growth often comes from stepping into this unknown. Embracing the uncertainty allows you to uncover your true potential, fostering resilience and courage, which ultimately helps you become the best version of yourself in your life.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival into Marrakech, welcome dinner. (For arrival times, please see FAQ section).

Day 2: After breakfast at the Riad, get ready to explore “the Red City of Morocco.”  Historical sights include the famous Jemaa El Fna square, the Koutoubia Mosque and the Palace of Bahia. After lunch, we will enjoy a unique Moroccan cultural experience: a Hammam/massages.

Day 3: Today, we will wake up early for the sunrise hot air balloon experience, visit the Madrasa Ben Youssef, an architectural treasure nestled in the heart of the old Medina of Marrakech. The Madrasa Ben Youssef echoes the sounds of a glorious past and embodies an invaluable historical significance. It transports visitors to a fascinating era where art, knowledge, and culture flourished. The Ben Youssef Medersa was constructed by Sultan Abdullah Al-Ghaleb Assaadi between the years 1564 and 1565. And yes, we will have time to shop in the souks today afternoon!

Day 4: Drive to the famous Ait Ben Haddou (3 hours), explore the city, drive onward to the beautiful Dades Valley (3 hours). Today, departure time is 8:00 a.m, and our road trip will take us over the heart of the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m). We’ll stop to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the mountains and the special Berber Villages on the way. Once we cross the mountains we get to the gate of the desert, the oldest and most famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou – A Unesco World Heritage Site used as a backdrop for more than 20 films (Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Games of Thrones). We will stop for lunch, then visit this old mud kasbah. Then we will travel through the city of Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) with the biggest cinema studios. We’ll continue south to the Valley of Roses where around 400 tons of rose petals are picked every year and sent to be processed into rose water, which is known as the distillation of roses in order to produce the famous Moroccan creams and perfumes. Later, we will drive along the road of the thousand kasbahs before arriving at Dades Valley. Overnight in a hotel /riad overlooking the Valley.

Day 5: Hike the Monkey Fingers trail in the Dades Valley. Today I have planned a 4 hour hike for us to further explore around the Dades valley. Monkey fingers are unique rock formations that look like digits of a monkey’s hand. We will enjoy the valley and the canyon and the beautiful views of the rock formations before we visit a nomadic family in their caves for a cup of tea and discover how they are living in this area of the high Atlas Mountains. After that we will have lunch and free time at the hotel.

Day 6: Drive to Merzouga (7 hours) with a stop in the Todra Gorge, and arrive at our desert camp in the Sahara for a sunset camel ride & stargazing. Today after breakfast in the hotel/riad, we set off to Todra valley: a green fertile valley surrounded by old mud villages, then we drive around 14 km to the Todra gorges: a canyon rising to 500m in a valley dotted with palm trees and Berber Villages. After lunch in the gorge, we will drive to the Desert (Erg Chebbi) passing by an old underground irrigation system (Khettarat), which is a system that helps people water their farms. We will continue towards the south, towards the Sahara desert where our camels are waiting for our ride across the golden dunes. Spend the night glamping and enjoy Berber music under the stars in the heart of the Sahara desert.  This is a beautiful experience that you don’t want to miss!

Day 7: Sunrise camel ride, sand boarding, lunch with a Berber family, ATV riding on the dunes, stargazing. After breakfast in the riad/hotel, we will start an explorative journey of the area, with a visit to the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. After that, we will drive to a desert area where we will have the opportunity to meet the nomad families still living in Berber tents and explore their way of life. Today we will immerse further in the Moroccan way of life by sharing a meal (Berber pezza) with a local family. We may also visit the souk in Rissani, a traditional town which was the origin of the ruling family in Morocco and the meeting place of the Caravans that traded as far as Timbuctou in Mali.  Spend the night glamping under the stars.

Day 8: Drive to Fes (7 hours) stopping in the cedar forest and Morocco’s “Switzerland”. Wake up early to see one of the best sunrises in your life on top of the riad/hotel. After breakfast, we will drive to Erfoud (the capital of fossils and date) where we will discover the process of beautiful mineral fossils. Then we will leave for Fez traveling through Aoufous and Ziz Valley where we’ll stop to appreciate the panoramic views of the main source of dates in the country of Morocco. We will stop for lunch in Midelt (the capital of the apple) and meet the wild monkeys (Barbarian Apes) in the Cedarwoods of Azrou, which is considered to be the largest and biggest forest in Morocco. We proceed through Moroccan Switzerland(Ifrane) where we will have some time to explore. Finally, we will arrive in Fes.

Day 9: Explore Fes. We will visit the Chouara Tannery, Madrasa Al-Attarine, Madrasa Bou Inania, stroll through the souks, and end with a cooking class/dinner. After breakfast, you will start exploring the oldest city in Morocco, walking in its charming alleys and small streets. Our visit starts by visiting the Royal Palace gate, the Jewish quarter, the first Mellah ever built in Morocco, during the 14th century. We will also visit the famous Al Karaouine University, considered the oldest one in the world, the Tanneries, and Moulay Idriss mausoleum. After lunch in a traditional Moroccan restaurant, you will visit the tiles cooperative and then experience a wonderful panoramic view over the whole Medina of Fes. Later on, we will experience a local cooking class which will teach us more about moroccan cuisine/farewell dinner.

Day 10: Departure for Fes-Saiss International Airport or Casablanca airport

Optional Blue City Extension – $300 (includes 2 nights accommodations, 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners)

Day 10: Today we will start a 3 day trip from Fes to Casablanca via Chefchaouen (The blue city). After breakfast at the riad in the heart of the old city of Fes, we will drive crossing the Rif Mountains, and the first stop will be at the view over the dam and farms as the area is known for agriculture. Later on, we arrive at Ouazane which is known for the olive oil as the main income for the city, Then we will drive to the “blue pearl” where we will spend the night in the heart of the old city of Chefchaouen. The drive to Chefchaouen is roughly around 7 hours including stops.

Day 11: After breakfast at the riad/hotel, you will have enough time to explore the city and have a look at different sights in the blue city. You can start with the kasbah, which is a heavily restored walled fortress that now contains a lovely garden, a small ethnographic museum, and an even smaller art gallery. The ethnographic museum contains some fascinating views of old Chefchaouen, including the plaza and the kasbah; the gallery promotes the work of local artists. The views from the kasbah tower over the medina are a delight. Check out the main square (Outta Hamam). Later on, you can also visit Ras El Maa, a beautiful waterfall beyond the gate of the magical blue Chefchaouen Medina.  In the evening you will also have an amazing sunset view from the Spanish mosque. Evening we will have a farewell dinner.

Day 12: Drive towards Casablanca (7 hours including stops) after breakfast. The journey takes us through the Rif Mountains with its landscape & villages and via Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Drop off at Casablanca airport and/or Tangier airport (3 hours from Chefchaouen).
